Type the property's address, or skip it, and choose what you are delivering and how you will capture it: sketch it, read an existing plan, or scan the rooms with LiDAR on an iPad Pro. LUXplan picks out the walls, doors, windows and fixtures you draw as you go.
Drawing in LUXplan needs Apple Pencil. A finger moves and zooms the plan, so a hand resting on the screen never draws. Drawing without a Pencil is not supported.
In the iPad app, a double-tap on Apple Pencil (second generation or Pro) switches between Select and the tool you are using. Squeeze Apple Pencil Pro to open the tools where the Pencil is (its standard squeeze setting). Hold the Pencil just above the screen while dragging out a room, bench or measurement to see the point it will start from. Apple Pencil Pro gives a small tap as a wall, box, corner or tape you are drawing, dragging or measuring snaps onto a corner or into line with one.
Drawing is free and needs no account. To export a finished plan, tap Sign in on the address screen and sign in with Apple, then buy the export when you finish the job. Exporting the same job again afterwards is free.

Scan with the iPad's own LiDAR on an iPad Pro with LiDAR (2020 or later), or with the free LUXscan app on a Pro iPhone with LiDAR: iPhone 15 Pro or a later Pro. On an iPad with LiDAR you choose This iPad or iPhone when you scan, and LUXplan remembers which. With the iPhone, LUXplan shows a six-character code: in LUXscan, walk the whole floor in one scan, then type the code and tap Send to the iPad.
Walk each room slowly, pointing at the walls, and the scan lands on the plan when you are done. You can record a laser measurement against any scanned wall to check it, and drag the wall if it needs correcting.
Plans are saved on your iPad as you draw, and your recent jobs can be opened again from the address screen. To delete your account, sign in and tap Delete account beside your name on the address screen, and confirm with Apple. The privacy policy says what is deleted and what is kept.
